Rhino exports objects in one layer only

I imported a STEP-file and split up certain parts into objects and blocks. Each part is on its own layer. Now when I export the file to .dxf and open it in AutoCAD
all layers are available but all the objects are stored in the default layer.
Apparently it has something to do with the blocks because they are “not linked” according to the block manager.
Is there a way to avoid it or to work around this issue?
