Hi,
I got a very large project (a train interior) that uses Blocks with layers in them. When working with the files it was very smooth and convenient because we made this product in different configurations so I could make the parts in different variants, then hide/show layers to build different configurations. So far so good. Now the client wants each configuration as STEP files. Cool I thought, I just export them out. What happend is that Rhino explodes the blocks, exports ALL layers inside each block so all configuration is lost in the STEP and I get a file at 5.7 Gb.
I’ve tried exporting as IGES but the save failes because I got meshed objects in there, not sure if it do the same thing as STEP though. Anyone got some idea on how to export only the visible layers? Is it possible? Do I have to save out all the layers to separate files and rebuild the whole file?
Edit: The BlockManager is also giving me a hard time, it keeps crashing constantly, I usually never have any crashes with Rhino.
Any help or ideas are welcome. Save my weekend!
