Hi All,
One of my clients is using Solidworks,
Can they import a Rhino file ? best transfer format ?
Thanks, Mike
Hi, Mike. I use the DataKitExchange plugin. Or export to VDA with subsequent diagnostics in SolidWorks.
Thank you Andrew !
I will ask them to try the .VDA format
Regards,
Mike
There are different options. Directly, through intermediate formats. Depending on the geometry.
I was always using igs for curves and surfaces and step for solids to import my files to Solidworks (I had Rhino and Solidworks installed together on my PC to have the best from both world of modelling - freeform and parametric)
I always used step ap 214cc2 automotive design for most parts.
if I got one that was stubborn I used parasolid as an export.
I have not used any 3rd party formats personally.
Thanks Kyle, my client was able to work with both of those formats. (VDA and 214cc2 automotive design)
They are also downloading a trial version of Rhino so they can work directly with my 3D Scan data.
Regards,
Mike.
parasolid typically worked when step did not… and oddly enough, step ap 214 cc2 worked when parasolid failed.
no idea why one worked when it did vs the other, but I was in the getting it done mode, as opposed to the figuring out why it didn’t work mode.
