I have a client and they are using Solidworks. I used to have a Solidworks exporter on Rhino 5. Is there one for Rhino 8 on the MacBookPro? Thanks,

You can export an STP file for SolidWorks compatibility.
Why won’t that work for the client?
Hi @Jim_Girard,
With Rhino for Mac, you best bet is STEP (mentioned above).
With Rhino for Windows, you might consider a 3rd party plug-in to help. For example:
– Dale
Thanks Dale,
Thanks exactly what I did, but I also exported as a Parasolid as well…let you know how it goes… Thanks for the quick reply and have a great weekend ahead.
Jim
Since you cannot test the SolidWorks output from the datakit plugin, as you would not be able to test the import of the STP files, there seems very little value in the plugin…
The cost would be better spent on an actual Solidworks license to trouble shoot any issues with import into SolidWorks. Unfortunately that also means you will need a Windows machine.
SolidWorks Cloud appears to run in a browser, maybe that would work on a Mac. However, I have no experience with that.
Good Mid-January!
My practice is to import the.3dm into OnShape, check for defects, and export it back out as .sldprt file.
Or, if your end-user is savvy, just send the .stp file as mentioned.
OnShape does pick up surfaces that SW will dislike, that are fine in Rhino. A simple recreation of those surfaces, using a different method, will usually get the.3dm file to import without problems.
