Rhino 8 SectionsTools Integrated Bug/ layers inquire

Hi all!

I’m writing since me and my colleagues are trying to create a 3D/2D workflow to easily make updates on 2d drawings (Front view, Section, Plan view).

Therefore, we are proposing two files: One with the 3d model (to the left in the first image), and a second with an embedded and linked block of the 3d model (to the right in the second image). The second one has three Clipping sections drawings associated to three clipping sections, and is intended to show the drawings.

However when modifying the 3d model and updating both the block reference and the section drawings, they change position (as shown in the second image), which is not suitable as implies that we will have to move it back again to the suited position each time there’s a modification on the 3d. We are working with a considerable amount of files, meaning that doing this manually is not an option.

  1. Can you please guide me into how to fix this problem?

On the other hand, we would like to use the same layers of the 3d model into the 2d drawings.

  1. It is possible to create Clipping sections drawings associated to the layers of the linked block?

Thank you so much for your collaboration.

I’m adding a third image to show another modification

Hi Juan -

That problem is not happening here:

Please always provide your 3dm file and the output of the Rhino SystemInfo command.
Also, please create different threads for different issues.

Hi Wim!

Sorry the late reply. We though we had solved the issue by trying something out, but in the end it didn’t worked out after several trials:

What we did is that in the referenced block we draw a Box around the geometry that “Contains” everything that will be referenced. At the beginning it was working and the Clipping drawings stayed in place, however today even with the box we had the same problem: The Clipping drawings keep moving every time we refresh them.

I’m uploading both files in this post. And the SystemInfo:

Block to be cutted.3dm (155.5 KB)
File where the block is inserted.3dm (779.6 KB)

Block to be cutted.3dm (The block).
File where the block is inserted.3dm (The file where I insert the block and making the section planes).
