Rhino 8 — File opens to older version, thumbnail showing current work

Hi, hoping someone can help with a file recovery issue.

I finished a working session on Sunday and saved the file on Monday (04/13). The file is sitting in my project folder at ~551 MB, and the thumbnail preview in File Explorer clearly shows the current state of the model — hatches and all layout work included. But when I open the file in Rhino 8, it loads an older version with the layout content missing.

The .3dmbak in the same folder is from the day before, so that’s not recoverable either. No autosave files exist Unsure why. No cloud sync, no previous versions available through Windows.

The fact that the thumbnail reflects the Monday save but the file data doesn’t suggests to me that the save partially completed — the thumbnail was written but the geometry/layout data didn’t fully commit.

Is there any way to extract the layout data from the file, or inspect the internals to see what’s actually in there? Happy to share the file if that helps.

I suppose I forgot to mention that the recycling bin was empty.
