Or just remove the shortcomings that you pulled the documentation for. 
I mean, the above basically shot that tool in the kneecaps just as it got out the door (because in my case, I get the rightmost kind of surface 99.9% of the time). I have almost zero use for this tool that I have been waiting for now, because it can’t silently extend the trim curve on its own.
If I may take a step back to meta comment on this thread, development in Rhino seems at a very low technical level, while usefulness/usability gets left up to those who create custom scripts or custom plugins…
