Rhino 8 + Bella

I’m working in Rhino 8 and trying out Bongo. When starting rendering (Bella render), Rhino always crashes after several rendered images. Does anyone have a similar experience?

please run the systeminfo command in rhino and post the results.

I’ll send the system info when I’m at the PC. So far it seems to be a problem with the vulkan-1.dll file. I updated the graphics card drivers, started the animation rendering and I’ll see.

Even after updating the graphics card drivers, the problem persists.

Would you be able to share the model with us?
You can send it trough here.
We’ve now been running rendering tests on different models with Bella and Bongo and so far no crashing. So it might be something model specific.

I have sent you the crash file in a zip archive. If I animate and render for about 35-40 minutes everything works, then rhino usually crashes. I hope you can read something from the file.

Thanks, I got the file crash file!

EDIT: Can you please send the 3dm file as well? Then we can try to reproduce the crashing here.

done, I sent the file

lets try and disable the nvidia denoiser in the plugins list. (or uninstall it from package manager)

restart and try your file again.

any better?

Thanks for the advice, I have already disabled the denoiser plugin and the problem persists. Now I’ll try Rhino animations + Bella renderer and see.

@jdhill any ideas?

hey Kyle, I have been on direct message on our discord with Martin, I had not seen he was posting here

I rendered 120 frames of his file here with no issue so far, and don’t yet have any good ideas where to look

@jdhill We’re able to render @Martin_Šefl animation here and no crashing occurred.

Thank you for looking into this issue. I set up the scene in Bongo and render in parts or on another PC. I’ll reinstall Windows in a few months and see if that fixes the problem.

We had a closer look at the crash dump you sent and the crash went into RTSS, we don’t have the dll’s for that application. RTSS is the Rivatuner Statistics Server, which inserts itself between the GPU driver and the application. We’d recommend that you close/disable/uninstall it and try again.

This is a crucial finding! I’ll try uninstalling the app and running the animation again. Thank you!!

I currently have 2x more images to render and Rhino has not crashed. Looks like the issue has been resolved!
