First off let me apologize if this has been directly answered before, but I can’t find anything that has helped me.
I have found a lot of info and regularly use step files to go between Inventor, Fusion 360, now Solidworks and Rhino.
My specific question is how to go from Rhino to Fusion 360 and retain all layer information. NOT the other way around. I don’t need help going from Fusion to Rhino via step.
The main company I do business with primarily works in Fusion 360, and I work in Rhino. I’ve been trying to learn Fusion, but it’s so close to Rhino but so different, my old brain has trouble latching on.
I usually import a step from them that was built in Fusion, I flesh out the design of everything and ultimately each component has its own layer, part name and part number, then I share it back out for approvals before I begin fabricating.
What I need is a way to export all that vital layer information in a way that populates in Fusion 360. Is this possible? I’m leaning towards it is not possible, but I’m hoping someone out there can prove me wrong and I can learn how to more efficiently communicate my work to the Autodesk-ers.
Thank you anyone who can help.
