I’ve been working in 7 for a week now, one thing that is absolutely driving me crazy- I create a lot of layers, dozens. When I click on a layer to turn it off or on, the entire list jumps up or down. Previous editions didn’t do that. If I’m in a sublayer and I mean to turn one off and the next layer on, when it jumps I have to find that layer again by scrolling to it wasting time and effort. Half the time I’m working quickly and I’m so used to clicking one after the other I click the wrong one. What the hell. How can I stop it.
Okay maybe it’s just Friday, but I closed the program, restarted, and it stopped doing it. Stuff like that makes me doubt my sanity.
Hi Dave - we have had other reports of this behavior - can you please run SystemInfo
in Rhino and copy/paste the results?

Hi Dave - if this happens at all regularly, please disable the plug-in listed here:
in Options > PlugIns page, and then close and re-open Rhino. Is there any difference?
-Pascal
I have disabled flamingo nxt 5.5, is that what you mean? The jumping had already stopped, no idea if it would return. Disabling flamingo means it is no longer available as a renderer, correct? I don’t do renders very often but it is an important part of my job occasionally. Does this mean I have to buy a Flamingo upgrade as well?
Dave Coker
Hi Dave - disabling is a test only, temporary, to see if we can find what is causing the bad behavior - it seems at least possible that a plug-in is involved, this is to try to determine that. The fact that it had stopped for now anyway does muddy the waters, but I would keep an eye on it and try to determine whether this only happens with Flamingo loaded. As I say, so far we do not see this here.

It’s freaking out again today. Plus other problems.
At first in 7 everything was good, the layers when clicked on would blink but not move. Then I had to open files in 6 and things got weird. At first 6 was okay, then I tried to open 7 at the same time, 6 started acting up, I couldn’t do certain things, like access drawing layouts. I tried closing the programs and reopening, at first it wouldn’t even list files for 7, I closed it and tried again, this time opening 7 just froze. I rebooted the computer. This time 7 worked with the exception, the layers were jumping again. Please note, the exact order of my attempts is probably not correct, it’s as close as I can recall.
Can I operate 6 and 7 at the same time?
Hi Dave - you can absolutely run V6 and V7 at the same time. Another temporary test: Unhook the external monitor. Is there any difference?
-Pascal
After I rebooted the computer earlier today, everything has worked fine. I just did a little test. Closed 7, which I was working in, and unplugged the external monitor. Opened 7, played with it a bit, then opened 6. Both seemed fine. Plugged back in the monitor, moved and expanded 6 and 7 windows. Everything is working fine. So weird.
OK - let us know if it goes south again - I do not have any bright ideas as to what is happening when it breaks but the developers might.
