Rhino 7 Evaluation Crashes

I just install Rhino 7 Evaluation and as soon as I open it, it crashes.

I am only able to open it in safe mode.

While in Safe mode, please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and post the results.
Hopefully something obvious will jump out.

Thanks

Is that Intel GPU the only display adapter on this computer?

Does Windows Device Manager > Display adapters show additional graphics cards?

Also, I do not see that you sent in a crash report with your email address.
If Rhino is really crashing, we need that report.

It is the only GPU.

I’m using a Macbook Pro 2017 13in with bootcamp.

CPU: Intel i7 @ 3.50 ghz
Ram: 16gb
Space: 1Tb
iGPU: intel iris 650

Does rhino 7 now needs a dedicated graphic card?

I sent my previous reports with kmartinf@gmail.com email.

I just send right now a new one with your name (John Brock) in the description.

Thanks for the help!

@kmartinf I see 4 crashes in our database. All of them are happening because of V-Ray.

how do I remove vray from rhino 7 but not from rhino 6

  1. Start V7 in Safe mode
  2. run Options
  3. Open the Plug-ins page
  4. Change the list filter to Plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino
  5. Disable everything related to V-Ray
  6. Close and restart Rhino normally

Any luck?

there is no vray related.

Weird, I disable all of Bongo related. and was able to restart, and now it works.

Could it be Bongo?

If it crashes with Bongo enabled and not with Bongo disabled, then yes.
Can you verity that is the case?

Can you now still try with disabling the V-Ray plug-in, restart Rhino, enabling Bongo plug-ins and restarting Rhino again. Does that still have Rhino 7 start?

This crash is manifesting in VRay but comes from Bongo 3. VRay has an integration with Bongo 2 to work with how Bongo renders animations. With the Bongo 3 WIP we’ve broken the Bongo SDK and this in turn breaks the integration causing the crash. If you absolutely need to render an animation with VRay you should look into moving back to using Bongo 2 for the time being.

Here’s a link to the issue

Yes, (john) this was the case. The problem is Bongo 3 and Vray 4.2 together. Separately, rhino 7 opens without an issue.

As Joshua mentions.

I notice similar problems a couple of months ago when I shifted from Vray 3.4 to Vray 4.0. It will crash as well. Eventually, it got sorted out in the following update of vray 4.2

I suppose Bongo and Vray, every time one plugin updates, they have to re-validate each other again.
