Rhino 6 Wishlist?

So cool! You guys have the best support.
It’s helpful that the text dots are on the same layer. Some are hard to
tell what was labeled, any suggestions for making sure it’s the right
object, could I manually check the size to see if it matches the label?

Hi Tyler - the simplest would be to group the dot and the object - would that help?

-Pascal

yes, that would be great

OK - updated above.

Please give us save undo. So when I open a file in the morning I can still undo what I did yesterday. I know I can do an incremental save, but often I am so engrossed in the design process that I da not know anymore where I should start the incremental save. I know the files will become much larger, but I dont care.

Can I do another wish? I spent a lot of tome getting fillets right. I often have surfaces that are composes of multiple surfaces/ extrusions etc, and to get fillet to work right I must remove them and create a new surface from adjoining surface edges. And when these are curved, the situation becomes completely hopeless so I often find myself making corner pieces to glue in or using arcs for wirecutting. A lot of room for improvement here!

Hello,

Please would it also be possible to have true cameras with frame outline. Working in film and TV this is vital for showing the director the view that they can really expect. (I guess this may already exist but I haven’t found it yet)

Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian - does the Safe Frame help? (DocumentProperties > Rendering >Safe frame)

-Pascal

Hi Ian,

We have cobbled together something that works pretty well for this. The Cam_Lens script will let you set a camera (it is a bit limited at the moment and could stand a rewrite, but it works), lens (spherical and anamorphic) and will let you set an aspect ratio. The Camera_Height script is handy when being asked how high your camera is.

Both should be drag and drop-able. Cam_Lens should add the aliases “Lens” and “Aspect”, Camera_Height should add “CameraHeight”

Hi,

Rhino 6 wishlist : In move UVN window it would be amazing to have opposite of smooth U and smooth V (sharpen U and sharpen V?)

Where selecting a group of points and applying U or V sharpen would move them proportionally together. (for the purpose of creating edges or creases)

As it is now I have to do it 1 spine at a time (with normal u and v slider), it would be great if I could select 3 spines and move them together proportionally with a single slider. Like smooth would do in the opposite direction.

Many thanks

Hi Vladimir - the Smooth command accepts negative numbers to ‘roughen’ - that might help for now - it looks like MoveUVN does not pay attention to negative scale numbers in Smoothing, but I bet it could.

Hi Pascal,

Ah, I see using a negative value makes the spines “cross” each other which is a no-no.

Standard Move U and V work perfectly for me as they are, I just wish there was negative smoothing or sharpening.

As I said you can do it> control polygon, scale 1, move u and v spine by spine. But if you made it automatic > profit

Thanks
