Rhino 6: Settings continuously reverted back to default

It was worth a try; thanks for testing. It sounds like Andy is going to try and work with you next week to see if he can determine what is happening,

Indeed it was
But yeah, im going to cross my fingers for when Andy will have a go at this.
Hopefully it’s some absurd small thing that is easy to fix.

Finally!
It’s working
(If I only had the ability to reset my evaluation countdown, I would be exhilarated!)

I recently started to notice that my windows start/search -bar didn’t work…
(nothing popped up when searching for files etc.)
So to fix this, I deleted and rebuilt the index… and now it’s suddenly working again!
(I also want to point out that the version installed, when things started working, was: “6.2.18038.4101” )

Regarding the Index reset, these were the final steps that I tested:

  1. Indexing options
  2. Select “Advanced”
  3. Delete and Rebuild

Give it a few minutes (as the library needs to rebuild)
Maybe even a reboot would be a good idea…

Hope this can be of help for anyone else who are having similar issues!

You probably meant to write “and now is suddenly working again”…

my bad… typos
My worst enemy

RH-43828 is fixed in the latest Service Release Candidate

Nice!
May i ask what the problem was?

The decimal separator, the difference between a dot and a comma in different cultures. Essentially reading of the just written settings file failed because of that difference, and that combined with some… logic… caused Rhino to decide to remove the settings file.

Ah.
Of course… Never thought of that… Dot and comma issues have always been a pain in the bum.

Yup. Fortunately it is great to have an open fire at the snowy beach of a frozen sea.

A post was split to a new topic: Losing custom settings

I have exactly the same problem. I followed the trail above, also with no luck. Very frustrating, I need higher contrast due to cataracts. :unamused:

Hi - could you please describe the problem? Also, run the Rhino SystemInfo command and paste the result here.

Stop the presses! It worked for crosshaircolor, but not for selectedobjectcolor. What the heck?

Could you describe the steps that you are taking and what is happening as a result?

New model, small, inches
Select tools/options/advanced
Select Rhino.Options.Appearance.SelectedObjectColor Currently #ED1268FF (Red)
Double click on the red box
Select Green
Click OK
Box is green
Close Options
Save MT dwg as untitled
Close
An update tried to intervene, I ignored for continuity
Opened ‘untitled’
Select tools/options/advanced
Select Rhino.Options.Appearance.SelectedObjectColor Currently #ED1268FF (Red)!!!

I think I was able to reproduce this once but now am unable to do so anymore.
What happens when you change the color through the Rhino Options > Appearance > Colors > Object display > Selected objects dialog?
After that, create an object and check that the selection color is correct. Exit and don’t save. Restart Rhino. Does the color stick?

yes it stayed in the next new drawing AND of one of my existing models and in the options/advanced /selected objects.

Thanks
