Rhino 6 for Mac wip no AA (doesn't use the better display adapter)

tried the new rhino 6 WIP for Mac today, but it seems it doesn’t recognize the radeon pro 450 in my MacBook Pro, whereas the latest 5.5 RC does. This means it runs on the intel display driver and I have no antialiasing in Rhino 6 WIP

Please paste the output of the Rhino command _SystemInfo

From what I can tell Rhino does recognize and use your Radeon Pro.

Other than AA how did you determine Rhino doesn’t use that GPU?

because, when I open about rhino, more info… I see this in Rhino 6 WIP:

and when doing the same in Rhino 5.5 I see this:

@dan, something you know about?

This is probably something that @jeff and @marlin need to investigate

@Gijs But what does the OpenGL tab show ?

Also, what does MacOS show under Hardware->Graphics/Displays ?

@marlin Where are you getting the “hardware” information from for that tab?

-J

rhino 5.5:

rhino 6 wip:

mac osx:

Really odd… V6 seems to be getting the proper GL device, whereas V5 does not… But then V5 seems to report the proper hardware device, whereas V6 does not…

Very strange… Not sure at the moment what to suggest trying…I’ll see if I can get something here to act like this… @Marlin any ideas on this one?

-J

is there any news on this?

Gijs, is it the wire drawing that does not appear to be properly AA’d or is it everything?

@stevebaer
same in all modes. Latest version did not change anything. Still V6 thinks I only have the Intel HD graphics, at least looking at the screens I posted earlier. Thing is, the activity monitor does tell me it is using the high performance graphics card.

If I open the options and openGL options, under the AA dropdown in V6 is empty and I can only choose ‘none’. In the advanced settings it is not set to its default (2) but it says -1

Hi @Gijs-

Is this still an issue for you in the latest RhinoWIP? Have you updated to Mojave yet?

yes, it seems to be solved, thanks!

I haven’t yet updated to Mojave

Good to hear! Thanks for confirming this.
