The first Rhino 6 for Mac Work In Progress (WIP) build is now available.
This build is for testing purposes only. DO NOT USE for critical work.
IMPORTANT: It is strongly advised that you update AND RUN the latest Rhino 5 for Mac before using this RhinoWIP. This will migrate your Mac V5.4 Preference settings to Mac V5.5/Mac V6 Preference settings.
What’s New in this RhinoWIP
- A new display pipeline that is faster, more stable, and uses features found on modern graphics hardware
- RDK (Renderer Development Kit) material system
- Grasshopper updates in keeping with the Windows (multi-threaded components, VB support, etc.)
- Raytraced viewport display mode
- Make2D has been completely rewritten to provide faster, better, cleaner, more customizable results
- Use CloudZoo to license Rhino
- ViewCaptureToFile/Clipboard now have handy dialogs
- RhinoCommon updates and new embedded Mono & Xamarin.Mac
- Many other updates and changes that are part of the Rhino 6 codebase
Known Issues
- There are some commands that are not available yet (that are in Rhino 6 for Windows)
- Crashes that we know about (and those we don’t!)
- The Zoo does not yet work
- Expect many User Interface changes to come
- Various performance problems
- Translation and localization has yet to begin
- A large pile of bugs and partially implemented features
