Rhino 6 - Can't exit blocks

Hi Guys,

I’ve recently bought Rhino 6. All is great, however, I cannot exit blocks! The block management window does not pop up when editting a block. Any solution?

Best,

Alex

Anyone?

Hi Alex - is the dialog on another monitor or off screen possibly? What display(s) do you have?
Can you run Help menu > System information and paste the results here?

thanks,

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

Weirdly - it appears to happen in some documents not others. Attached is two screenshots. It appears to happen when I already have geometry in the model? As shown - it does not appear in the one with geom, but does in the one without any geom but the block…

Any news on this Pascal?

Hi Alex - is this consistent - if you BlockEdit in a file that has an object in it already, the dialog does not show? Any object?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

I’ve taken time to explore this issue further. it seems to be that block edit does not work when grasshopper has been opened and is running in the background. Absolutely bizarre. Does this help trouble shoot the issue at all? To clarify:

  • Grasshopper not opened; no geometry; block edit works

  • Grasshopper not opened; geometry; block edit works

  • Grasshopper opened; no geometry; block edit does not work

  • Grasshopper opened; geometry; block edit does not work

Hi Alex - by this do you mean you have a GH file open but GH is minimized? I don’t see anything like this yet - any fancy GH plug-ins running?

-Pascal

Nothing of particular interest - is there a way to temporarily stop GH from loading plug-ins? I can then look to trouble shoot the offending member!

Hi Alex- I don’t know… but I’ve asked the GH developer for his thoughts…

-Pascal

My thoughts exactly.

Yes, in the Grasshopper Preferences you can load protect every plug-in. You will then get asked on GH Load whether or not you want to include it:

@alexbramhill Hi. I ran into the same issue… have you found the plugin in question?

No, sorry. I’ve just learnt to work around it…

i disabled the plugins i rarely use… now its working again.
reanabled with blocks working by now: doodlebug, weaverbird, human, or elefront.

the karamba plugin (maybe others too) is killing blockedit in rhino 6

@alexbramhill @karamba3d

working by now: doodlebug, weaverbird, human, metahopper, elefront, bullant

I wanted to second this problem. Karamba definitely causes issues with Block edit in Rhino 6. Amazing plugin. Please do fix it!
@karamba3d

We will try to find a solution.
Best,
Clemens

We found the source of the problem.

Please write to info@karamba3d.com so that I can send you the download-link for the current build of Karamba3D.
