Rhino 3D and Shark CNC

I recently purchased a Shark SD100 CNC. I have not even opened the box yet. What do I need to communicate between Rhino and Shark? Is there a beginner’s guide to getting set up?

These folks have a product called VCarve Desktop that works very well for me.

It will read DXF files from Rhino for 2D routing and 3dm files for 3D milling.

There are also more expensive CNC code generators that integrate into Rhino as plugins.

The bottom line is that you will need a program that converts the design geometry into the g-code that drives your particular CNC machine.

Hi @Dan_Dickerson

David Kay from KaroroCAM here, we have a low cost, easy to use CNC/CAM plugin for Rhino that allows you to program your toolpaths inside of Rhino:

We don’t currently have support built in for the Shark SD100 but will do in the next few days.

You can see more about how KaroroCAM works on our YouTube channel:

We offer a free one month trial user license to get you started, from there it’s either us$20 per 30 days, pay as you need or us$300 for a lifetime license.

Cheers

@Dan_Dickerson

The latest release of KaroroCAM - V1.2505.6 - is now available on the Package Manager.

I have added a POST processer that should suit your Next Wave Shark SD100:

Please feel to contact me for a trial user key to allow Gcode export and testing.

Cheers
