Jumped on the new version just a couple of days ago, and altough I like the new implementations I have to say that the overall experience feels way more laggy.
To give an example, just by using a single clipping plane made the file crash 8 times in a day of work.
Please mind that I’ve been working on the same file in RH7 so I can really feel the downgrade.
We are evaluating as an office to switch to Rhino and I was in charge of the tests; As already said; the file I used in Rh7 and Rh8 are exactly the same.
An additional question, do you get also Rh7 by purchasing licenses for the 8?
I’m not seeing any crash reports from you. Does the crash report dialog pop up when you crash? If so, please always send that in.
Please try disabling V-Ray in the Plug-in manager and restarting Rhino. Can you still get Rhino to crash equally much?
I’m afraid we generally need to be able to reproduce an issue to be able to fix it. Is this crashing limited to a single file? If not, can you post a different file? I’ve been working with several clipping planes in Rhino 8 for the past two years or so without running into crashes, so what you are experiencing is either system- or file-specific.
If you purchase a new Rhino 8 license, (i.e. not an upgrade), you can get a legacy key for Rhino 7 here → Rhino - Access Rhino 7
-wim
Actually the whole computer would stop to work and the only thing possible would be to restart the system, that’s why I haven’t received any crash report. For the moment it’s something that is triggered just by the clipping plane, and not always.
Thanks for the info on RH7
It could be a totally different issue, but I had some hangs lately here that I found to be happening in Chrome. After reinstalling my display drivers as a clean install, it made that issue go away. If your computer totally hangs, it is most likely a driver issue.
