RH8: Sub-Object selection slow sometimes

Different Rhinos running as separate processes

Simple, but probably not so simple question: Would it be possible to have Rhino run separate Rhino files as separate processes? The most obvious reason being, that it is much better if one Rhino file is processing a command or crashing/freezing, it would thereby not be blocking all other Rhino instances. I think we would all want that, I certainly do. I don’t see the use of linking that unrelated thread here though. Dan replied recently there is no news about that.

I agree, but it would eliminate the current multi session clogging problem
But yes, it seems to be a harder problem than I can grasp…

i can confirm that the sub object selection sluggishness is happening. i was not aware because since v8 i have a bit of a blind eye on some things already, but i just started noticing that yesterday pretty severely. not only selecting it is slow but also the selection preview seems slow.

hovering the mouse over a part and pressing cmd shift takes a while for it to highlight, about the same time as selecting it without waiting for the preview highlight. so i assume the initiation of the selection preview highlighting could be the problem or part of it. once it has initiated the preview seems normal then you can hover the mouse all over the place while holding cmd shift without noticeable delay.

also selecting after the highlighting has happened does not cause any further delay… so maybe it really is the preview.

RH-82080 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 9
