Hi Hans-

I’d like to reproduce this on my Mac, if possible, so we can work on fixing it. Can you do me a favor? If you can get yourself in that wonky state, please do the following:

  1. In Rhino, run the Reset command. This dialog should come up:
  2. Click the Save Setting for Support… button.
  3. Save the settings to your desktop.
  4. Attach the RhinoSettingsForSupport.zip to a reply here.
  5. Back in the Rest Rhinoceros To Defaults dialog, click Cancel.

This should help us reproduce the issue :crossed_fingers:

sure ill help , all i can, wonky and all

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, it didn’t help (not yet at least). I’m no closer to getting the initial floating command popover stuck in the first place. Your video clearly shows the bad behavior, but - as you’d expect - it doesn’t show how you got the first one stuck initially.

If you can figure out steps to consistently reproduce this, please let us know.

I will look for it, if it happens again. Perhaps there was other factors at play, like the delay setting set at 20 ms ? I seemed to affect all the right and left clicks on Tool-buttons , even though I wouldnt have a clue how those things inter-relate on a programming level…

Which setting? Is that Settings > Mouse > Mouse (tab) > Right mouse button > Context menu delay …? or something else?

Thanks for keeping an eye out. Many of these are very hard to reproduce and subtle when you do. Sometimes I feel like I need to record myself modeling for an hour so that I can rewind and see what I did to cause it to wig out. Disk fills up quick though.

Oh, its a solution from Steve Baer in another post i made, where i found I had to click 3 times , just to open a tool…

I see. Thanks. Ok, I twiddled the delay to be 20 ms but I still couldn’t reproduce it. It was worth a shot.

Does it state in the settingsforsupport-zip, that I have since updated to the latest service release candidate ?

I think at the time earlier today, when i had these issues, I was on the latest service release (8.1 something)
Now i am on the service release candidate Version 8.2 (8.2.23333.09482, 2023-11-29)

Yep, it does. I was going to ask, but it is visible in the settings files that you sent.

Good of you to double-check though!
