Rendering with clipping planes and/or sections in worksessions

Typically for a project we put the building and the landscaping in two separate files and join them in a worksession, so that we can work with Lands Design in one file and VisualARQ in the other, to speed up modeling.

I’m now trying to get sections to work with worksessions, but if I put the sections in the landscaping file and render from there (setting the landscaping file as active), they are not really clipping the VisualARQ objects. Same story with Rhino clipping planes, independently of in which file they are put.

Putting the sections in the VisualARQ file and render from there works slightly better, but then I run into other problems, and I would prefer my workflow above to work.

Hi @studioselva,

You can create a file for VisualARQ objects, another one for Lands objects and another one to import those two files with a worksession to create sections so that they affect both files equally. In the following example I created a Lands wall in a file, a VisualARQ wall in another file and imported both of them to the file I’m showing, where I created the section:

Thanks, that’s a neat idea that works really well when modeling. But unfortunately, the section becomes disabled when raytracing.

Hi @studioselva,

I see the problem; I’ll report it to find a solution.

However, I could render it using a clipping plane, so maybe you can use this option in the meantime.
