Render viewport with default engine totally black

Hi guys it’s the first time I post on the forums cos the issue is really wield. Really need helps.

I change some objects material and find the render viewport turned black. Then I searched online there is a solution that “apply objects material by layer not by objects” so I changed all the objects material by layer but it doesn’t work.

The weird thing is I open another file, the render mode is normal. I tried to export only geometry to a brand new file, it’s still All Black. It seems that only objects in that file have this problem.

Really weird and due date is closing, can’t go to uni cos uni is closed due to covid-19.

Hi -

Can you post a simple scene (preferably one object) with a material that causes the rendered viewport to turn black?

Hi

It seems that all the object in this file have problem, and I randomly select one of them. All the objects are on one layer with default material.

Run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and post the results please.

Hi John thanks for reply. Here is system info:

Hi -

Please start by updating to the current version, which is SR 26.
If that doesn’t help, please upload a 3dm file that causes that behavior on your machine.

Additionally, you are two service released behind for MacOS Catalina too.
10.15.5 is the current public release.
