I followed te Wiki on the setup of the render farm.
I have a NAS and 2 identical computers, each with 16 Gb.
I tried to use the NAS as the location to store the files, but during installation on the client computer that was not accepted, only accept a local folder. So I shared that specific folder with the ‘Rhino-machine’, mapped it as a drive Y:, and in Rhino, Tools, Options, nXt 5.5 settings I put Y: as the ‘Farm shared folder’.
In Flamingo nXt 5.5 menu, ‘Start farm render’ it asks for a job name. but when I look at the client render monitor, that job does not arrive. (I tried both linked and embedded, but that did not make any difference).
The Farm monitor from within Flamingo does not work, error pops up that it is not installed.
So, my questions are:
- Is it correct that on the client machine I cannot use the NAS?
- Before sending the job tot the farm, should any files be copied to the client machine?
- Can the monitor be separately be installed on the main computer?
Thank you for any advice you can give me on this.
