Latest quick tip for Rhino 8, enjoy!
This is a really useful command. Thanks for the video.
It would be nice to have this work also by selecting named cplanes or even also as part of copy-paste functionality: “copy” also store the current cplane, and “paste” could have a variable to respect the absolute coordinates or to remap using the copied and current cplanes…
you can remap from any plane to any plane- named or otherwise
having copy paste recognize the cplane info is exactly what remap cplane does ![]()
I meant a more controllable behavior.
Once you select the object, it already pick the “from” cplane … but ok, after some attempts I understood the logic behind… sort of strange UX.
Can you give more details about that?
I mean the literal ctrl+C and ctrl+V.
Often I’m working in a Cplane in a rhino istance and I just want to copy-paste some geometries into another rhino istance with another cplane active in a totally different location…
remap cplane essentially cuts the geometry from one cplane and then pastes it to the new cplane (unless you use the copy option which in that case it copies the object to the new cplane)
the actual commands under the hood may differ from cut / paste ( I am 100% not a programmer) and may in fact be an orient command, but in function, cut / paste is what happens.
trying to do that between separate sessions is an interesting idea…
