Hi there, I came up with a strange issue : I use the default settings in Rhino 8, while I’m in perspective view in rendered mode once I navigate the model I hear motherboard capacitors clicking sound and usually the computer reboots (no bsod just cold reboot). In shading mode everything is fine. I initially started navigating the model in raytracing which worked, but is not my preffered way during the modelling process. I reinstalled everything, updated everything, played with the nvidia control panel (making it work in maximum performance and any other solutions in this forum or around the web). After lots of experimenting I ended up in changing the lighting method in lighting scheme. When I’m in no lighting or default lighting methods (either with the advanced GPU lighting enabled or not) model and navigation works perfectly! Once I’m in scene lighting or ambient occlusion the capacitors click again and PC reboots.
The weirdest thing is when I use the onboard GPU I don’t see these issues…
Past times I met the same issues with an Nvdia Quadro K420 (and different pc setup intel i7) which I replaced with an AMD card… Maybe something happens with NVIDIA cards or something needs to be changed on the NVIDIA Panel settings (probably)…
PC setup is Ryzen 5 5600G, MB is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H, RAM is 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill DDR4-3200 (16GTZR), GPU is an Nvidia RTX 2060 Gallardo 6GB, PSU 550W
Benchmanrks work fine (Cinebench at lest the others I’m trying them out right now), gaming no, but I do use other 3D content creating software, like Archicad, Blender, Zbrush, Maya all of them are not creating any issues at all…
