I’m looking into STEP import a bit more now and see that in RH5, when the file is imported, a status report is sent to the command line. In the example that I’m working with it was
Creating meshes… Press Esc to cancel
7 bad objects were created while reading “[path / file name].stp”
File “[path / file name].stp” successfully read
It's easy to overlook this information when the file is imported but it's obvious that all the information is available when the import is done.

When I open the 3DM file that was posted in the following thread, there is no message box warning about bad object. The command line reads 7 bad objects were created while reading “C:[…]\Discourse\Issue test models\2-24_001.3dm” though. So that seems to be the same behavior as for reading STEP files.
It does seem to be the same behavior, so maybe my message box was unnecessary. It’s easy enough to remove it. Is it helpful to anyone to have it pop up as a stronger warning?
