R8 - Mac - Attempting to Print PDF with any render view in detail crashes

Here’s screen View (intentionally cropped):

Here’s the print dialog in vector: (Already noted as bugged)

Here’s print dialog in Raster: (At least it’s upright):

Output file selection dialog comes up (although missing the very useful “open in preview”):

And the ever lovely ubiquitous crash dialog (which is becoming all too familiar these days):

I’ve ran the gamut on this one. The render mode in question here is just a modified arctic, but doesn’t seem to matter. If it’s anything but wireframe or shaded, it’s a crash.

And unfortunately for these types of pages a render is needed. Don’t understand how it’ll work on screen just fine, make it to the little previews in the print dialog then totally crater on print to PDF.

This has now forced me to have to print page by page, open some of these in R7 and hope to hell I didn’t do anything R8 specific in that detail, print that page to PDF and manually assemble the package a page at a time externally, which is crippling the hell out of my workflow.

Haven’t tried under windows.

Thanks, I am testing this - does this happen in any file, even a new one with just a box and a layout?

-Pascal

Gimme a few and I’ll let you know (soon as I finish writing up.a couple other bugs)

New file, generic template, with cube.

View of layout:

Print dialog:

Print in progress:

Prints to PDF, file is ok, no crash.

New “plans and elevations” file with my boilerplate setup for these types of drawings & title block:

Standard “pre canned” layout setup:

image

Cube added in model space:

Detail added

PDF Dialog:

That renders as well.

What doesn’t is any file I have that started as R7, got saved as R8 and has details with render views.

Want one? I can try to find a smaller one as any I have with typically are laden with imported architects DWG’s that have been cleaned up and had real 3D geometry added (and it’s usually a mess of furniture and the like. and as such they tend to get real big, real quick.

Hello- yes please - please send to tech@mcneel.com, to my attention, or if it is really big, Rhino Accounts.
Either way please include a link back here in your comments.
thanks,
-Pascal

@pascal

one. However forgot to include the render settings:

Sent a 2nd email with those.

Hello- thanks, I have the main file - so far is seems OK here but I am still poking at it.

@LewnWorx Are you getting the Rhino crash report ui when it goes down? I have not been able to crash this so far on my machine, nor on one running Monterey.
