I’m not sure how I managed to create this anymore but maybe something to investigate,

blue curve within a group can be selected directly just with LMB, no need for ctrl+shift+click.

This is not a bug, because there are 3 groups in your file, and one of the groups is the bule curve that can be selected.

You can achieve it with Sub-objects, and for you reference,
