Quixel assets no longer free

Hi,

Just want to give the heads up that Quixel will no longer be free starting in 2025 and you will only have a small window to download your already downloaded assets for free over the next few months.
The linked video explains Quixel becoming Fab market place. Don’t let the video title mislead you, the free for all software is only for these upcoming few months and will end in 2025. I gather you will have to redownload any assets you already downloaded using Quixel but using the Fab interface/marketplace.

The video has good info on the roadmap of changes.

Megascans is Now Free for All 3D Software (youtube.com)

Thanks for the info, it clearly states that it will no longer be free:

In 2025, we will begin charging for Quixel Megascans to support the ongoing improvement, curation and development of new Megascans content. While we will continue to offer some content for free, the majority of Megascans will no longer be available for free unlimited use in Unreal Engine projects.

Yes your right, but it will be free for the few fall months once Fab is released in October, free up until 2025 in which time you can download the assets and use them free forever. I see comments in that post that people are buying large hard drives to store all the assets.

I’m concerned and haven’t heard anything on “Quixel mixer” which is great and relies on megascans 2d content almost entirely. I use that often and I haven’t heard anything on that.
I did read that Fab is partnering with adobe and if you open a fab account or are a seller you get six free months of substance designer. I’m wondering if this means they’re killing mixer which is a great little program.

Reading your initial message, I thought about it a lot
