Quick question: Printing Clipped Technical Display Mode

Hi
I am trying to print a viewport set to Technical Display Mode with a Clipping plane.
Although it looks good on the viewport and on the print preview (the sectioned bits have thicker lines), the PDF has all lines as hairline.
I tried also Raster Output with Linetype set to Match Viewport Display with the same results.

Any ideas?

Hi Nuno -

We have this issue on the list as RH-15552 Clipping printing doesn’t give you what you see in the print preview

You could try playing with a few parameters to change the outcome:

  • Thickness of the clipping plane section in pixels
  • Size of the PDF sheet of “paper” (A5, letter, A2, …)
  • Resolution of the print (200 dpi vs 600 dpi)

The following picture is composed of screenshots of PDF files that were made with different combinations of those settings.

Ok. So the pixels in the “Clip Plane Settings” are directly translated to the resolution of the Print Setup, and not proportional to the plot/view size.
So you either have to lower the print resolution or increase the clipping plane pixels in such a way that is impossible to look at in the viewport.
