Projection does not use all geometry / wireframe

Hello community! I know it may seem a strange situation, but, I am trying to project an open polysurface onto another surface. The thing is that there is an area on the object without wireframe that is not projecting ont the flat surface, and I cannot select it when prompted to! Any ideas for such a situation? Thank you.

Project command tells you to select curves and points to project. Not all surfaces of your model have curves on the midplane of the boat. Use Make2d instead.
