Problems opening Rhino files & Enscape crash

Hi There,

since a few weeks (guess after the latest Rhino 7 Update), I have major problems opening Rhino files. Either they wont open or take a lot of time. And then with the small files that do open, Enscape crashed immediately after opening. Had contact with enscape and did all I could, but problem remains.

Guess that the issue might be with the latest update of Rhino vs my not too young computer.

Previously all worked super, with big Rhino files & combined with Enscape usage.

any tips?

maybe a possibility to download a previous version of Rhino 7?

Many thanks in advance!

Can you find a RhinoDotNetCrash.txt on your desktop?

hi there,

no the .txt is not there. But Rhino crashing is also not the issue. The programme remains alive, but files just wont open. The crashing part is for Enscape, and most of the times when this happens, Rhino remains working

Hi Sjoerd, Can you provide your SystemInfo by running the command via command line and paste here? Thanks

In the Rhino Command Line please run the SystemInfo command.

There is an update to your driver https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-580

Hi Japhy,

thanks for your help and sorry for the belated reply: have been ping-ponging the last days with AMD (Graphic driver) to discover any problems. This is the conclusion:

Thank you for your feedback and for performing the Clean Uninstall.

Your system now has the latest version of the Bootcamp drivers installed. The date of the EXE can be misleading. The EXE file is only the executing file and gets the data/drivers to be installed from the folders, as you can see from your screenshot the creation date of the folders is from 2022.

This means that the latest Bootcamp drivers have been successfully installed on your system. There is no newer version of the Bootcamp drivers for your Mac.

Although we provide the download of the Bootcamp drivers on our website, the driver is developed by Apple for your Mac hardware that can also run Windows (Bootcamp). As it is not a fully-fledged Windows version, we are unfortunately unable to help you further, except to carry out a clean installation of the current drivers with you, which we have done.

If you experience any further problems and are unable to use your software such as Enscape for Rhino, there is no way around contacting Apple and/or Enscape support.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards

Your AMD Customer Service

still encountering the same problems,
and bigger Rhino files won’t open at all anymore…

any other tips or time to throw this imac out of the window?
would be a shame though…

Can you post your updated systeminfo please. Thanks.

I see, just because the installer is newer it doesn’t contain a newer driver.

Lets try your roll back idea. Sending you the previous release of Rhino, let me know if there’s a particular one that you want to try.

Hi, I got the same issue when opening Enscape.
Everything was fine and working really well when I am using Enscape to render before I update the latest version of Rhino 7.However after I update it start crashing when I open the same file in Enscape. After I start the command Enscape Start the process will reach to 99% then shut down the both software(rhino and enscape) . Is there any possibilities to send me a previous version of rhino 7?

What version do you want? Can you run SystemInfo in the Rhino command line and post your results?

There is the possibility of this being related to your file, Enscape version or another plugin.

Lets try the previous Rhino version first and go from there.
