Polyhedral Structures Lab at PennDesign is looking for a research associate to participate in a cutting-edge research in the field of structural design based on geometric methods.
Objectives:The objective of the research is to develop an interactive structural design tool for designers, researchers, and students. The area of research will include but not limited to 3D graphic statics, reciprocal polyhedrons, advanced architectural geometry, computational design, and digital fabrication of spatial structures.
The suitable candidate may be undertaking scholarship, research, and teaching activities, all of which provide training essential for career/research development. The appointment is for one year, and may be extended based on satisfactory performance.
Eligibility and Skills: The candidate should have a PhD degree or equivalent research experience in the field of computational design and/ building technology. S/he must have prior experience in plugin development for Rhinoceros or equivalent software; therefore, fluency in C/C# and Python programming is vital.
