Poor performance Rhino 7

Hi All,

I am experiencing freezing and laggin all the time using Rhino 7.

With the “testmaxspeed” command I run 3.15 fps with a file of 1240 MB.

Can you guys help me out?

GPU drivers are up to date as wel as Rhino 7 itself.

We can take a look at your file if you zip & upload privately here, please put a link to this thread in the comments. Thanks

Hi Japhy,

Do you by any chance have some feedback regarding my performance issues?

Hi @Harm_Backx,

in addition to what has been suggested by @Japhy, have you checked your large file for duplicate geometries (_SelDup) an bad objects (_SelBadObjects) ? If you run _PolygonCount command how many do you have ?

Is it faster in Shaded display mode compared to Rendered ? Is it file related at all ?

Without seeing the actual file we can only speculate…

I missed the upload (no link)

The file you send i about 2.3 gb and i’m getting 3.77 sec testMaxSpeed.

Its a fairly clean model, the Tolerances are rather high which does affect file size if the geometry is created at those tolerances (0.00002 mm)

There are nested blocks but exploding (for testing purposes) isn’t reducing maxspeed much.

Not seeing any improvement changing render mesh settings.

@theoutside or @pascal any large file recommendations?

Hello- - I would use worksessions and break the file up in some way that makes sense in your workflow. At least use layer states or something to shut off parts of the model. It’s just a very large model. No doubt Rhino’s handling of this can be improved but for practical purposes, you’ll need to figure out some management strategies
