Latest version of Rhino 5 for Mac has issues with Pointson/off capability.
1 A solid with points on, no longer can be selected.
2 To enable points on for a selected object, the only way to do it is to type in the command line, the button is not working

that’s normal, right?
(if it’s not normal behavior in windows then the mac has always been messed up in this regard)
i’m not seeing this… what button are you trying to use and what type of object are you trying to use it on?
In V5 (Mac included) for any object with points on, only the points can be selected, not the object itself. In V6, you will be able to select both the object and/or its points.
Also in V5, if it’s a polysurface, you need to use _SolidPtOn, and not _PointsOn. For single surfaces, both work, but do different things. _PointsOn will turn on the control points for the surface, _SolidPtOn will turn on edit points for the surface edges. For curves, only _PointsOn works.
