Points are not displayed

Hi,

Since the latest update I cannot see points both from Rhino nor Grasshopper in the viewport. Though I am able to select them and can see the Gumball, but they are not displayed.
I already tried bunch of things in properties under display modes and objects.

I am running Rhino 6 on a vmware virtual machine 11.1.0 with windows 7.
Version 6 SR16
(6.16.19190.7001, 7/9/2019)

Any idea?

Hello -

please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and copy/paste the results here.

Hello - I guess this is the problem - there’s no indication what the actual underlying video support is, but it is unlikely that after passing through VM Ware it is using its full abilities.

Hi,

still the same problem and colleague with VMWare has the same problem. In earlier versions of Rhino 6 it was working fine.
The mac version of Rhino also doesn’t create any problems.

VMWare supports DirectX10.1 and OpenGL 3.3

Any one an idea?

Hi - the system requirements for Rhino 6 specify OpenGL 4.1.
Apart from that, VMWare and other virtualization systems are not supported.
On Mac, we recommend using the Mac version of Rhino or, alternatively, Boot Camp to boot into Windows.

This worked for me (VMWare Fusion with Rhino 6 & Grasshopper on Mac).

Install “VMware Fusion Tech Preview 20H2”

Now all points are showing up in viewport!

Hardware:

  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • Processor: 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
  • Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
  • Graphics: Radeon Pro 460 4 GB / Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB

Operating System:

  • mac OS Mojave / Version: 10.14.6

Software:

  • Rhino 6 (Version 6 SR21 Commercial)
  • Grasshopper (Build 1.0.0007)

Thank you so much!
Worked for me as well.

Just downloaded the TechPreview .dmg

and followed the instructions:

To get started with DX11, VMware Tools needs to be upgraded, and the Virtual Hardware Compatibility version must be set to v18. Existing VMs can be upgraded by adjusting the virtual hardware compatibility while the VM is powered off. After power-on, you can then upgrade VMware tools as you normally would. With new VMs you may need to manually set the virtual hardware version to v18 before installing, so double check.
