PointDeviation does not allow leading zero before decimal point input

The pop-up panel for PointDeviation does not allow typed leading zero before decimal point input for values less than 1 in the Ignore: and Bad point: fields. It is allowed in the Good point: field. After a value is successfully entered without a leading zero the display then shows a leading zero for values less than 1.

Example file:
PointDeviationEx01DC.3dm (1.6 MB)
Open the file, start PointDeviation, select the points as the point input and the curve to test. Then try to change the Ignore field by entering 0.8 or the Bad Point field by entering 0.3. In one of those fields when a zero is typed followed by a “.” the field immediately reverts to the previous value.

This is annoying.

Post subject corrected: “not” added.

@pascal This needs attention. My guess is it is a simple error in code, not logic, since one of three similar input fields works properly.

Hi David - yeah, I see this is messy, thanks.
@davidcockey - so, there is a delay set there, where Rhino checks to see if the number is valid - (larger than the next setting down) which is way too short. You can change this however -

Options > Advanced > Rhino.UI.Settings.TextChangingEventsDelay

I doubled it here to 1.5 and this dialog seems much more tractable. But, the real question is, should this checking be there at all?.. we are reviewing…

RH-67859 PointDeviation: revise how numeric input is handled

@pascal Options > Advanced > Rhino.UI.Settings.TextChangingEventsDelay does not appear in my version of Rhino

Hi David -hm - it seems you need to run the PointDeviation command once in a session for that setting to show up …
-Pascal

That worked. Changing the setting to 1.5 appears to have solved the problem.

Having to run the command to see the setting is not obvious. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

No it was not… but I remembered at the last minute about how advanced settings are not retrieved until used, and not saved to disk is not modfied.
