Point cloud - points disappear when using clipping plane

Hey forum

I have a problem where I try to print PDFs of a pointcloud (colored).
When using a clipping plane to get plan and sections, some of the points disappear.
This happens when activating the clipping plane.

As you can see on the screenshots, the points disappear when I pan around. But in the layout the points are missing the entire time - meaning I have missing points when printing PDF (I have tried differend PDF printers)

The point cloud is .E57 file
I’m using Rhino 6 SR35 2021-8-10 (Rhino 6, 6.35.21222.17001,

How can I fix this problem

Hi Tommy, Can you provide your SystemInfo as well? (type in the Rhino command line)

How many points in the cloud? (object property details, or the What command)

Thanks

The problem is in plan and section(elevation) views - not perspective

Hej Tommy -

Do you also see the problem when you are only using one of these pointclouds, or is the problem related to the amount of either pointcloud objectes or total points?
-wim

Hej

The problem is still occuring when only one of the point clouds are shown

Hej Tommy -
I’m not able to reproduce this issue with a point cloud file that I have laying around.
Could you upload your file with only one of the point clouds to Rhino - Upload to Support - make sure to include the link to this thread in the comments field.

And, just to make sure, did you try a new file with only one of those point clouds? From that answer, it sounds like you might have turned off the layers or simply hid the other point clouds.
-wim

Hey Wim

Your assumption is correct - I did try again where i deleted the other pointclouds, but the problem still stands

Per you request I have uploaded a file containing the single pointcloud

Hi Tommy -

Thanks for that file.
I was about to give up but then managed to reproduce that behavior. Here, I had to exit Rhino and start it again to get it to display correctly again.

I tested the same workflow on Rhino 7 and this appears to have been fixed somewhere along the road. There won’t be any updates on Rhino 6 (all development and most bug fixing is only done in Rhino 8 at this point), so I’m afraid this is going to stay like this in Rhino 6.
