Playing with Rhino 8 and Krita AI

Can you tell us how you completely migrate from AutoCAD to rhino because I don’t find way to replace dynamic blocks and quick tool palettes to quickly drag and drop hatch fills and other elements.
Please take time to explain your journey. It will help most rhino users.

Hi @gustojunk. The lecture was for INTI International University and Colleges Malaysia students and lecturers. However, They invited Trisakti University (Indonesia) as I was graduated from Trisakti as well.

Hi @Kalpit_3d. As for migrating to Rhino, I mostly do 3D and combine things with Grasshopper. I also use an addon called AdaptivePartsEnvironment that acts similar to dynamic blocks but not exact replacement to it. Use package manager in Rhino to look for it, using keyword search “adaptive”. I also make my own workflow to do things and teach. An example could be viewed at my Linkedin post:

You’ll probably never find a replacement for Dynamic Blocks within Rhino. You basically need a substitution. I’ve found that using Groups can provide close to the same speed as dynamic blocks for some applications (mainly annotations). Or combining grounds and some sort of Rhino Script or code or whatever…
To use groups with any speed you have to master sub-object selection. And they are “dumb” of course, meaning nothing’s Automated (I could fix this but time…).

Of course, we can even use blocktools which has command like makeunique to create multiple blocks of similar type and when you goto block edit, there is no worry in subobject selection because other objects do not hinder in selection.

But adaptive environment is a dedicated tool to provide dynamic block functionality in rhino.

Thank you very much Bimo! :slight_smile: I didn’t know how easy it is to install krita und its SD 1.5 / XL plugin. It even runs great on my RX7800XT 16GB with images up to 1024px.

Great news @bodzguard :sunglasses: I will try my RX6800 later and see how it compares to my RTXs.

Is it live? do you export depth? or just shaded view?

So sorry for the late reply. It’s not “immediately” live. But you could create a shortcut in Rhino in order to put the viewport into clipboard and bring it to Krita.

The other question is interesting. It’s also possible to do the same in bringing Z depth as depth map to Krita for post process.

I would recommend to bring rendered viewport, instead of shaded view as it brings some colors information in the image as well.

For those who have been playing with Krita and its generative AI plugins, new updates for both are available at www.krita.org and GitHub - Acly/krita-ai-diffusion: Streamlined interface for generating images with AI in Krita. Inpaint and outpaint with optional text prompt, no tweaking required..

Make sure you install new Krita update first, then delete everything under the server folder, install the new plugins, and download the necessary files (checkpoints, etc.).

The new updates will give better result. It could upscale low res image better than the previous version.

While take some days off, I was still curious with this old “project”, combining Rhino and Krita AI. After some Krita AI updates and tweaks, I just couldn’t believe the FREE software is awesomely good for final rendering, without rendering the scene, in just seconds with my laptop.

I just bridged them through clipboard, and that’s it.

Simply amazing. And cost cutting for many, without any subscription or token :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Another progress with more hardware config, implementing total of 4 different GPUs onto this 4 years laptop I use daily.

Driver installation was head scratching, untill all GPUs were working properly. Every restarting now recognizes all GPUs.

Performance is outstanding. With all those RTX GPUs, Rhino rendering time shortened to 1/5, compared to default laptop setup with RTX 3060 alone.

AI rendering in Krita completed much faster now.
