I’m trying out Lands Design and so far it seems quite good. Yet,I’m having trouble finding specific tree species which are quite common. According to this blog post the plant library contains many mediterranean species, but I can’t find any of the common trees: eg. Pinus Pinaster, Fraxinus, Cedrus, there is only one Quercus, and none of the common ones such as Quercus suber, quercus ruber, etc. Is there a place where I can find more tree types?

All the species you mentioned are included in the Plant Database and have a realistic file assigned for rendering.
I guess you have one or more filters enabled that are preventing you from finding them:
There is a button to clear all filters at once. You should also select “All” in the Top-Left combo box. In the title bar you can see the number of species available in the current list. With no filters you should have +8000 species:
