"Picture" too bright in WF and Shaded mode

Hello,

My architecture students downloaded Rhino8 and opened an exercices file I prepared which contains Pictures. they are screenshots I created and used in the file. This files has always worked for me and dozens if not hundreds of students in the past, in V7 and V8.

  • On her v recent Asus laptop running Win11, These very same pictures are present and appear to be correctly linked to the image files ( I checked in Properties), but they appear white/burned out.
  • I went through (like 7 times)all the Vue Shaded and Wireframe options and reset to Default setting and I cannot correct the appearance of these Pictures.
  • I also have these images set to display as shaded in Wireframe mode. They are burned there as well.
  • I recreated Pictures with other image files in this and a new file and they appear burned as well.
  • We uninstalled (via uninstall in the system) R8 and re-installed it. Doesn’t help.

So some setting or computer issue? Some Open GL issue? It’s a new computer so I doubt the video driver is out of date..

Thanks in advance, Peter

systeminfo, some screenshots and the file would be very helpful.

I’ll get them from my student. I meant to write one student has this issue. The file is heavy - 30 Mo - but I’ll see if I can lighten it up. As I said, the same file doesn’t have these problems on other PCs.

Here are 2 screenshots:

I’d start with systeminfo and resetting their shaded mode (or any other misbehaving view modes) back to defaults. in tools>options>view>display modes>shaded> reset to defaults

my guess is they are running on a machine that doesn’t meet our system spec or something has happened in their graphics pipeline (driver or hardware failure)

they are welcome to call us directly and we can remote in and take a peek at what’s going on. That may be the fastest path to getting sorted.
