Picture import: "specified file cannot be identified as supported type"

No matter what I do, I get the same error when I try to place a picture using either “Picture” or BackgroundBitmap."
I’ve tried placing .png, .jpg, .tif, and .bmp. I’ve tried all the numbers of bits (8, 16, 24, 32) I’ve tried RBG and Grayscale.
I always get the following message:
“the specified file cannot be identified as a supported type”

Any other ideas?

I’m saving from Photoshop 20205 26.1.0 release on a Mac running OSX Sonoma 14.7.3

Hi Matthew -

Can you post a bitmap that we can use to troubleshoot this issue?

Please update to the current 8.15 version.

Please post the entire output of the SystemInfo command.

Thanks. Here’s the full output. I can update, and here’s one of the files I tried to load attached.

And I updated to 8.15.25019 and still getting the same error message.

I also tried doing a “save as” from a different image program than Photoshop, and it still didn’t work.

I was able to download your image and insert via the Picture command.

Lets run the Reset command in Rhino and go back to factory settings. Please save settings for support button the dialog as well.

Done. And unfortunately seeing the same error message with both a .bmp and a .jpg (the one I uploaded).

Thanks, can you go into Rhino8>Settings>Plugins and see if there any that not enabled? the only other variable i can think of is MacOS, i’m running 15.3.

Here is a similar report, converting the cmyk to rgb was the solution. .TIFF Support Gone? - #5 by Holo
