Performance issues. Rhino7 Software super slow and freezing

Performance issues. Rhino7 Software super slow and freezing. CPU running at 95% + to open file.

Lately, have been using the Artistic View - in many of my files .3dm to create a printable report doc.

I have noticed this slows the file when re-opening and will even effect the render of gems and material in Render view turning them BLACK.

I have a AMD FirePro W5170M graphics card. I have installed the latest driver.

Is there a way to check if the software is using the GPU instead of the CPU for rendering? Where would I find this?

Any advice would be great.
Thank you

open rhino, run the systeminfo command and post the result.

It looks like that old Firepro has been discontinued.
The final driver was last July:

I suspect this GPU ran V5 very well.
It’s not up to snuff for V7.

Thank you for your help.

so a few things, your card is not up to spec, we require 4gb vram in your video card and you are running 2.

you also have a hybrid laptop and anytime you run unplugged it will run on the intel video which only has 1gb vram, so performance will be even worse.

that aside, we try to eliminate any 3rd party add on to see their impact. I see you have the "2shapes " plugin installed. I’d disable that temporarily to see what changes.

you also want to make sure that your windows install is completely updated. You may need to run windows update a few times if you have not done so in awhile.

see this post on hybrid laptops-

Thank you for the information. I will have my IT look into this further.

Thank you I will forward all this information to my IT and see what we can do.

while you are at it, see if you can get them to grab a new machine for you with an Nvidia RTX card in it… you will be amazed at the performance improvement over what you are using which is quite obsolete.
