OpenNest - Problem with Nesting Perforated Parts

Hello everyone,

After a lot of effort, I managed to get OpenNest working properly for non-perforated parts. However, I’m unable to achieve the same result when working with perforated parts.

The issue is that OpenNest recognizes the outer contour of a perforated part as one separate piece, and the inner contour (the hole) as another separate piece.

What I’m trying to achieve is:

  • To have perforated parts nested as a single, solid piece (outer and inner curves treated as one object).

  • Additionally, if a hole is large enough, I’d like smaller parts to be nested inside that hole.

I’m attaching two files:

  • One contains my original parts.

  • The other shows the desired result, which I achieved using another software (that I currently don’t have access to).

Could you please help me figure out how to achieve this in OpenNest?

Thanks in advance for your time and support! :folded_hands:

I’ve had similar issue, but on the food4rhino page there are examples with this situation that can help fix it, I don’t have the file I used to make it but if I am not mistaken, you can group the contours before entering the nesting node and they will stick together.
