I just found another bug probably connected to this problem… Cascade menus embedded in another menu are sometimes greyed out. If I deselect all and then try it again, it usually work as it should.
Quoted for truth. I share your frustration. Volunteering to report obvious functionality bugs is a significant time commitment and I resent feeling like I have to do it for anyone in power to notice.
