Object material settings

I want to change the color & transparency of an object in the viewport settings rendering view, but at some point the custom setting items do not appear in the settings. Is there a way to make them appear? Even if I uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver and Rhino 7, the symptom is the same.

After further checking, the Toggle Materials panel tool does not work.

Hi @flawless8862 ,

I’m unable to reproduce this issue here in Rhino 7. What are the exact steps you take to open the floating material dialog you show in the screenshot? If I click on the Layer material in the Layers panel it opens a dialog that says Layer material at the top in contrast to what you show which has the material name.

Can you change the material type to physically based instead of Custom via the the drop down menu in that dialog? Or can you edit the material in the Materials panel or Properties panel > material section?

Even if you click on the layer material and set it to custom as shown in the screenshot in the main text, a menu to change transparency or color does not appear, and even if you click the material button(image) corresponding to the image in this additional article, no window opens.

Even in the Properties panel, the Material section button is not exposed as shown in the image below.

Hi @flawless8862 ,

Can you please upload a file and give me the steps you take such as select an object > click the material icon in the Properties panel. Or open the Materials panel with the Materials command and select a material swatch to see it’s settings. Or in the Layers panel > click on the material icon for the layer to open the floating material editor for that layer. I’m able to use all three of these methods here in Rhino 7.36 and I’d like to know if any one of these works for you too while others do not.

hello.
If you look at the screenshot in the first discussion, the object is selected.

  1. If you click on layer material settings to custom, color and transparency adjustments should appear, but all functions related to this do not appear.
  2. Even though an object is selected in the object property options, the material setting paint tube indicator does not appear.
  3. Even if you click the material settings icon in the toolbar menu, a message saying that the material settings command will be executed in the command window is displayed, but the material settings window does not open.

Check if the plugin called Renderer Development Kit UI is loaded in Options > Plugins.

Wow thank you so much. I changed my computer and installed Rhino and didn’t change any settings, but I was in despair because the material settings didn’t work, but it turned out to be a problem that could be easily solved. Thank you again.
