No extrude handle on the gumball rhino 8

Hi,
I’m new to Rhino 8. I have been using Rhino 7 so I have some experience. Now that I have started using 8 I’m having trouble with gumball. the extrude handle seams to be missing. How do I turn it on.

it only appears when the object you have selected actually can be extruded.

can you share an example of what you are trying to make?
