New command line

I like the new command line in (9.0.26069.12305, 2026-03-10).

How did you enable this mode?

Looks like “Mac mode” in Windows…

TestEtoCommandUI, and fyi.

Interesting. But what are the Cancel and Done buttons for? For when you have no keyboard?

It’s for the purpose of Cancle and Done. When you don’t have a mouse and only using a laptop touchpad for modeling, they become very useful.

I did not enable it, it was there after installing the SR candidate.
It was a surprise :upside_down_face:

Note that the option is exposed in the Rhino Options UI. You don’t need to use a test command to change this.

  1. It’s hard to read: Delete Input Delete Cutters, because of #2.
  2. Delete Input is a toggle, means yes or no.
    Perfect for a checkbox.
Delete cutters is also a toggle, but this time with a radio control.
The state (on/off) using a checkbox is seen in front of the caption.
Not so with the radio buttons, the state comes after the caption.

Hi Charles -
Thanks → RH-94203 CommandPrompt (Eto): Search: Mixed Controls

This is very clear and easy to read:

When there are more options, it becomes difficult to find and read them.
There is no helpful separation between the single entries.

The complete line is a puzzle to solve:

I don’t know how that could be improved, but it should.
Perhaps a frame around a single entry could help?

BTW, why the No/Yes radio buttons?
Isn’t No/Yes better using a checkbox?

Checkbox is the standard UI to permit multiple choices.
Radio buttons is the standard UI to “pick one” choice.

Btw I’ve switched to old command bar. I find this new harder to read.
Is this meant to replace the old version or it will be always possible to switch back?

RH-94203 is fixed in Rhino WIP

I wrote more about the issues with the new UI here:
