My first quad-GPU + Dual Xeons + Kitchen Sink Home Built PC

You spend much of your life staring at this thing…

How does one rationalize a motorcycle, expensive meal, (etc., etc…)

Hey mate,

I can’t stress enough how important pcie storage is… swap one of those SATA III SSD’s for a pcie based one…

stress all you want , but… THERE-IS-NO-ROOM. all the PCIs will be literally convered by the 4 GPUs.

Something like this (ignore the SLI BS):

that’s why even wifi 7 blueethooth have to be via USB.

It’ll be fast enough, we’ll survive

I replaced one of my 24" with a 35" 21:9 monitor and it works very well. It’s unbalanced but effective as I have a large main monitor and a “small” one for secondary stuff. To me the image quality and size, thus being able to view large drawings 1:1 is more important than pixle density though.

HA! That’s the expensive mattress argument. Did you get one too?

ok, ok. The thing is I do have One 4K in my current system. I plan to get 2nd 4Ks in this other one. So I guess I could later get one more(my plan to have a dual 4K in the rendering box) and then I will have three in the office. I could then just try to use them all together, and see what happens.

all sensory, nothing rational. Some of my friends call me Bacchus for a reason.

Isn’t it crazy that we have all these giant pixel space/canvases and Rhino’s layout tabs will only show you a single page at a time. But hey, at least it’s in color, not just black and white.

Yeah, anybody knows why floating viewports doesn’t support Layouts?

psst… try dragging the layout’s viewport title in the top-left corner off of the main Rhino window.

Does your mobo have M.2 ?

It doesn’t look like it http://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=EP2C612%20WS#Specifications

What are you, psychic?

Well, I did lust after a fancy latex, organic wool and cotton mattress, but like you, I was too cheap for that markup. Also, preferred the feel of a properly contrived water bed, which does not exist in my local market.

So like you’re doing with your computer build, I designed/scavenged my own consisting of:

  • German Mesamoll water mattress and liners.
  • Local mattress factory organic wool and cotton zip cover
  • Built my own latex rails.

Price/performance…

Seriously…? that was a well hidden feature  I have never thought of trying that.

But can you look into why I can make a new floating viewport and not make it a layout?
If I choose to duplicate the view and get a new windows that “thinks” it is a layout, but it isn’t.

The drag-trick worked though!

I like the idea of those super wide displays too, instead of the clutter of multiple displays.

However, 5k spoiled me. I really don’t want to look at anything else now. Hard to step back.

Life is relative and experiential.

At best I have had 6 monitors on my desktop, it was awesome. I would have needed some good rail system for the keyboard to swiffle around the desktop quickly.

Right now I am on one monitor. I do miss the multitude, but I somehow manage with one. Maybe some day again I’ll be back at 6 - the displays are on the floor, waiting patiently…
