Can you advise on this workstation configuration/Build I am looking to get

How is this build for Rhino (and Addons), Solidworks, Maya, 3D Studio Max, V- Ray, Keyshot, Premier, Adobe Audition, Autocad, Mudbox etc

So video Editing, Effects, 3D-Animation, CAD, rendering etc.

Im trying to manage around a budget of £2600 to £2875 so thinking of delaying Microsoft Student and Home 2019 and a raid 1 Mirror pair of Seagate Barracuda Pro drives most likly 4Tb ones

Was also wondering about Xeon single or Dual processor boards and xeon 2145 8 core or 2155 10core(single mother board) or a single Xeon Silver 4114 10 core prcessors in a dual processor board ( for upgrade to 2 processors later)

How much better is the I9 - 7900x to a cheaper or I7 - 7800x or 6 core or I7 - 7820x processors

Also can this output to 4k video?

Also how hard is it to add a raid mirror array of hard drives at a later date?

Any suggestions of tweaks to this configurations, to help with video editing and podacastign or better components or more value for money

Dual Xeons tend to be slow for work (everything except rendering), i7 and definitely i9 should be much faster.

Quadro with 5 GB RAM is a joke. Get a GeForce GTX 1070+ or RTX 2070+ if you ever want to use GPU rendering, which seems to be the future, right now.

Don’t bother with the Quadro unless you’re going to spend more than your entire budget just on it, just get the best GeForce you can afford. Ditto for Xeons, no point unless you’re in an order-of-magnitude higher budget bracket.

What’s the RAID for, backup? 'cause that’s the only reason to use hard drives anymore. There are some particularly cheap large SSDs that are still gong to be faster than any hard disk, and the prices on them are currently falling.

Thanks so far guys … what size 1070 gtx in gb are you refering to as seen several with those numbers. Diff size and some with ti. are the 2070 gtx s justvthus years nodel and same basic thing or genually different. likewize seen 8 and 21 gb 1080s…

Also should i look at at AMD thread ripper route and if so which to stay in budget.

How is the mothetboard and upgradability. How much better is the I9 and dont just mean faster.?

Heard you can buy legit ms office legally and download the software from microsoft so £30 not instead of £120 with the pc. That true?

would a linux partician help?

the idea of the raid array is for storage of older stuff, back ups. Stuff not used so Much. Finished projects, whilst the ssd drive would be for software , operations. Scratch disc, current projects etc. i have lots of old uni stuff. Film and tv collections etc. Current using 500gb laptop often bear stuffed and some external 1tb drives all bar one have failed.

Do you plan on using Raytrace mode much ? If so I would suggest increasing the amount of GPU RAM on the card.

Not sure on the ray trace I assume so… still learning have not tried everything.

The norm is to have lots of applications open.

Been trying to decide between Quadro and Gefore GTX or RTX graphics cards. The bulk of advice ive had seems to show that the Geforce cards would be better despite being more of consumer and games graphics cards.

I am hearing of reports of bugs wit the rtx 2080 cards, anyone know anythgin about that?

I was originally thinking of Xeon or dual Xeon set ups with EEC memory and Quadro cards but more and more been advised against this

Its more a case of Threadripper 1920x or 2920x (what exactly is the difference) possible 1950/2950

or an 19-7900x 10 core or I7 - 7820x 8 core route.

Maybe the cheaper 8 core routes then using the saving towards greenscreen filming studio set up.
